| HistoricBridges This 7,624' (2324m) long bridge has a main span of 456' (139m). "This bridge is noted for its rare Wichert truss spans, and is the largest Wichert truss bridge in the country. The original Wichert truss is the Homestead High Level Bridge. This bridge shows all three forms that the Wichert design was ever used in, including deck girder Wichert spans, deck truss Wichert spans, and the through truss Wichert truss spans. The Wichert rhombus has been altered by the addition of a vertical member running in the middle of it. This is unfortunate since this is the most significant part of this historic bridge." |
