Chris Miller posted Abandoned DL&W old route truss bridge crossing the Delaware between Portland PA, and Delaware, NJ. Patrick Kane: It's not abandoned nor is it even out of service. NS owns the tracks and used this bridge for moving cars around up until just a few years ago when the Portland Generating station was open and there was interchange activity between NS and DL. The bridge has not been used in awhile (at least 5 years) and the roadbed on the NJ side of the river has been abandoned since the '70s. The Portland (PA) side is still active, albeit, not very active at the moment. Chris Miller: Patrick Kane there is actually nothing left in the Jersey side. Even the concrete overpass that was over Rt 46 was torn down years ago and the tracks were never replaced after Hurricane Diane in 55. Patrick Kane: Chris Miller I've never been over to the NJ side of the Old Road, but from what I've heard, there's hardly anything remaining except for the Oxford Tunnels, bridge abutments, and the concrete pad of the old station in Washington. Crazy how fast it could all vanish. Tim Shanahan shared |
It's stunts like this that cause historic structures to be torn down. And I wonder what kind of medical insurance they have.
I saw another video where some where jumping off the top chord.
