Pennsylvania Union (URR) 1898 Port Perry Hot Metal Bridge over Monongahela River at Duquesne, PA

(Bridge Hunter; pghbridges; from kent's commentSatellite)

Another name for this bridge is Union RR Port Perry Hot Metal Bridge.

I labeled these notes as "rrIndustrial" because the URR is owned by Transtar, which is owned by US Steel.

In the following two photos, this bridge is on the left. The bridge on the right is the NS/PRR bridge.

At least both bridges still have all of their connections.

Union Railroad and Norfolk Southern trains meet over the waters of the Monongahela River as they each cross their respective bridges [NS/Pennsy is the other one] out of Duquesne, Pennsylvania. Five MP15's from the Union Railroad's Job 66B are taking headroom as they drop cars into the railroad's yard, while Norfolk Southern intermodal train 260 uses the Port Perry Branch to get on the Pittsburgh Line and continue its trip east.

Note this bridge in the left background. What I learned from this photo is that the west approach uses concrete arches.

Original racing coaster that followed the bluff bordering the Monongahela River at Kennywood Park near Pittsburgh. This ride operated from 1910 thru 1926 and is similar to the route of today's Olde Kennywood Railroad. After this coaster closed, it was replaced with The Racer which is still in operation today.
