Bob Featherstone posted This is a hydroelectric station on the Kanawha River in West Virginia. When it was originally built at the end of the 19th century, the electric furnaces for the adjacent ferro-alloy plant were close-coupled to the generators with large copper bus work. The furnaces which are long gone, were right on the river over the hydro station water passages! |
Several sources named this facility the Hawks Nest Hydro. But sine Hawks Nest Dam is just a little upstream from here, I used the name from this source, Glen Ferris Dam, to avoid confusion with Hawks Nest Dam.
