1939 UP Trestle over Sacramento River in Redding, CA

(Bridge Hunter; no Historic Bridges; Satellite)

"Built 1939 as part of realignment for Shasta Lake. At its maximum the bridge stands 110.0 feet above the river. Total length: 4,348.8 ft. (0.8 mi.) [1325.5m]" [BridgeHunter] (The Shasta Dam forced the railroad out of the river valley and caused it to have to climb up and through the mountains. I've wondered what fraction of the expense of building the dam was spent on relocating the railroad because it needed some big bridges and tunnels.)

The part over the river is just a fraction of that bridge.
