Roberta Crwford posted with the comment: "This was the longest interurban railway bridge in the world and it was in Berrien Springs over the St. Joseph River. This is a publicity photo taken when the bridge was finished. The hydroelectric dam was being built at the same time time. Shoemaker Island in the middle would soon be flooded and eventually lost when the dam was finished, creating Lake Chapin. This line ran from St. Joseph Michigan to South Bend Indiana and began in 1903. The second photo is 1929 and a blimp is flying above the bridge. Credit both to Joe Barron"
Orphaned Tim: That is not a “blimp”. It is a Rigid Airship.
Tim Shanahan shared with the comment: "Bridge is long gone."

I can't tell if they plan to reuse the existing piers.

I'm guessing it is pin connected.

After the lake created by the Berrien Springs Dam filled up. I can see some pin connections in this photo.
