Stan Stanovich: …you are blessed and a blessing Jack D. Kuiphoff! Do you know what occupied the piers in the foreground?
Jack D. Kuiphoff: Stan Stanovich That was actually going to be a Y off the mainline Stan. It was going to be a bypass around Pittsburgh and come out on the B&O Shortline at Washington PA head west from there to Wheeling. The ROW was built, graded, tunnels where in place, and bridge piers here, and across the Monongahela at California PA. No track was ever laid, or bridge structures built. https://baltimoreandohiorailroadlist.groups.io/.../97921759

I guess there is no Bridge Hunter or Historic Bridges documentation because the bridge is hard to access for photos. I determined it was a B&O bridge from this map.

When I noticed the piers in a satellite image, I got an older map. I did this before I saw Jack's answer to Stan's question. Jack's link above includes a link to a photo of the previous bridge. According to the comments, the bridge was built in the 1870s, and it was probably gone by the 1920s.
