The same day I came across a couple of 1850s bridges, I came across this 1825 bridge.

A Bicentennial Celebration of America’s Oldest Covered Bridge:  One week from today, on October 11th, a bicentennial celebration will take place just north of Cooperstown, NY commemorating the 1825 Hyde Hall Covered Bridge and its 200 years.  I’m beyond thrilled to be emceeing this event at Glimmerglass State Park and cannot wait to return to one of my favorite areas on earth.  The festivities begin at 10:00am—lots planned ranging from wagon rides with Clydesdales to a terrific lecture series and lots more.  The Hyde Hall Covered Bridge is a classic example of how to preserve something that is spectacular, ensuring its legacy.  I’ll be arriving in Cooperstown a day early and will turn myself loose in that wonderful area of America.  Otesga Hotel—here I come!
