Seneca Chief for background information on this boat and its trip from Buffalo to New York. Brewerton was one of the towns that they stayed in overnight. So they would have already gone through
Lock #23.

Red sky in the morning . . .
We’re on our way from Brewerton to Sylvan Beach crossing Oneida Lake this morning. We have always known this to be the most challenging portion of the Bicentennial Voyage because the weather can whip up some big waves. And as it turns out, the sunny days that we’ve been having are taking a break today and the rain and the wind are coming in. The good news is that the pending weather brought a rainbow with it, so that’s a good sign. See you all in Sylvan Beach!

The temporary bridge is just one lane so it needs to alternate one-way traffic. "Modernized traffic signals will be installed at the northbound and southbound approaches of the temporary bridge, with vehicle-detection sensors in place to adjust motorists’ wait time based on traffic flow, which will considerably reduce travel impacts to the public. Emergency vehicles will utilize a preemption system to clear the temporary bridge of all traffic, allowing emergency vehicles to safely cross the bridge, as needed, and without delay." [

NYSDOT via cnycentral The new Warren truss bridge is expected to cost $33m and open in the Fall of 2026. "A gussetless truss bridge, the new bridge will be more accessible for safety inspectors and maintenance workers as well as having sidewalks and decorative street lights. The new bridge will be the first of its kind in New York and the second one in the entire country." |
