This appears to be an exhibit about water power. On the left is a water wheel, in the middle is a Francis turbine and on the right is a Pelton wheel. The Francis turbine made the water wheel obsolete because it was more efficient. The Pelton wheel is used for high head, low flow dams. That is, the water has to be under high pressure.

"Join me at Sharon Mills, Henry Ford's 13th Village Industries site, which started out as an 1834 Muley sawmill, then a grist mill, before turning into a water-powered auto parts factory in 1928 with the installation of a Francis water turbine. Today, it's home to the last, working, hydroelectric power plant for these Village Industry sites." This village factory made cigar lighters and electrical switches. |
