AVR = Allegheny Valley Railroad
"Brady's tunnel was opened in 1885 by the B&O Railroad. Construction went less than smoothly, with two abandoned starts in 1853 and 1873 and a riot between Italian and black diggers in 1884. The tunnel has seen a few accidents, the worst being a 1901 head-on train collision that killed at least three and injured several more." [wikimapia]
The former-Pennsy Brady Tunnel is near here. It is now part of a trail. This former-B&O tunnel is still active.

1 of 4 photos posted by Mark Desalvo Brady’s tunnel. Washington Pennsylvania built 1884. Part is refurbished. Locals say it is abandoned. Track looks active. Patrick Rieger: It is very active. The Allegheny Valley Railroad uses this line multiple times a week. Christopher D Coleman: Former Baltimore and Ohio line from Pittsburgh to Wheeling. Dismantled Washington to Wheeling. At least eight tunnels on the line, three on the active portion. |

Haunted Tales posted [Lots of text and comments about accidents associated with this tunnel. (If people keep walking through an active tunnel trying to find ghosts, there will be more accidents.)] |
