1995 Allegheny Valley Railroad (AVR) Overview

Allegheny Valley Railroad is also an historical railroad, but these notes are about the rather new shortline in the Pittsburgh area.

"Allegheny Valley (AVR) started operations in 1995 and operates 77 miles of track in the greater Pittsburgh area, with lines extending from Pittsburgh to New Kensington, Washington, and Allison Park." [CarloadExpress]

AVR built a track between some remnants of the B&O and of Conrail to form today's railroad. [railpace]
In 2003, it also absorbed the little remaining section of the Monongahela Connecting Railroad. [lundsten] Lundsten has a detailed map here.
