Lost Lock and Dam #1 on Muskingum River in Marietta, OH

(Satellite)

I think this L&D became obsolete when a new dam was built on the Ohio River and raised the level of the rivers. So it was removed.

Visit Marietta Ohio posted
The Lock was rebuilt to allow for larger boats to pass through. Once it was rebuilt, the maximum boat that could pass through was 365 feet [111m] long by 56 feet [17m] wide.
Bruce Alden: Linda I believe lock #1 was between the Putnam st. And Railroad bridge and it was blown up in the mid 60’s when I was in grade school at Harmar. Lock #2 is in Devola.
