I think this L&D became obsolete when a new dam was built on the Ohio River and raised the level of the rivers. So it was removed.

| Visit Marietta Ohio posted The Lock was rebuilt to allow for larger boats to pass through. Once it was rebuilt, the maximum boat that could pass through was 365 feet [111m] long by 56 feet [17m] wide. Bruce Alden: Linda I believe lock #1 was between the Putnam st.
