The Sheeder Mill Bridge over the French Creek, Chester County Pennsylvania. The 7 panel pin-connected Pratt through truss span was built in 1887 by John Denithorne & Sons of Phoenixville. This was once site of J Fredd Sheeders paper mill. It was briefly a rail station stop from 1890 to 1893 |
"Sheeder Mill Bridge was rehabilitated by PA DOT around 2010 and looks completely different then it did before although its historic structure was maintained." [Bob Bolzahn comment on ArchivedBridgeHunter]
(2012 is the only available street view. I cold not get an older view.)

HistoricBridges "This bridge is the only pin connected through truss highway bridge in the entire county." [Wow. I've seen a lot of pin-connected bridges. Granted, most of them were either lost, retired or a railroad bridge. A quick look at my notes with the label bridgeTrussPin shows Old Wenatchee Bridge. So Nathan needs to add the adjective "simple" to his truss description. But qualifying the claim with "simple doesn't work because I then found the McKeesport-Duquesne Bridge. Nathan himself calls this a pin-connected bridge.] |
