Quechee Dam and Mill: (Satellite)

Quechee Gorge Dam: (Satellite, evidently the only thing left of Deweys Mills is the nearby road.)
1875 Quechee Gorge Bridge: (Bridge Hunter)
1911 Quechee Gorge Bridge: (Bridge Hutner; Satellite)
While looking for the depot in Woodstock, I noticed a couple of covered bridges marked on the satellite map. This is the only covered bridge I found later when I looked for them. A search for "covered" in Bridge Hunter shows 17 bridges.
Quechee Covered Bridge is on the right, and the brown clapboard building in the middle was the mill.

The mill dam augments a natural waterfall. The mill is out-of-frame to the left.

Sometimes the flow is strong enough that all of the rocks are buried under water.
I didn't notice that the bridge is actually a concrete girder bridge until I read the overview in BridgeHunter_covered: "Covered concrete beam bridge over Ottauquechee River on Waterman Hill Road."

This is the Quechee Gorge Dam. I wonder where the penstock on the far left side goes to.

So when the flow is lighter, it is easier to see that this dam also augments a natural waterfall.

So most of the above structure was falsework, not a trestle. The bridge was a covered deck truss.

I did find the two covered bridges by Woodstock.

Tantsville Covered Bridge
The covered bridge and dam is obvious. The powerhouse is in the center background.
