The Tenn-Tom Waterway is a canal built by the USACE to provide a much more direct connection between the Tennessee River and the Gulf.

I was able to knock a shot off my bucket list that I have wanted to get for a long time today not once but three separate times. Thanks to some help from my friend Joey Cook I was able to get the Golden Triangle Railroad going & returning from Columbus as well as the Alabama Southern road train on its way to Artesia.crossing the Tombigbee Waterway bridge in Columbus Mississippi. 3/25/2020

The gantry crane has clamshell attachments as well as grapplers. The canal fell far short of USAC'Es prediction of how much commerce it would generate. So it is nice to see that the street view car caught the port doing some business.

In fact, I see some trucks are queued up to be loaded. Then I remembered that Steel Dynamics built a plant a few miles away from this port so the trucks are probably hauling scrap steel to that plant.
