(Update: I've learned that these thing are supposed to be called wind turbines instead of windmills. So I fixed the title, but I can't take the time needed to fix all of the text.)
I have a high-speed internet connection, so I loose track of how big some posts grow. I noticed the
Building Windmills Farms post is getting a lot of pictures, so I thought I'd start another for offshore wind farms.
Adnan Najem
posted several pictures with the comment: "D

The Liebherr LR 11350 from the dutch based company Mammoet assembling the third of 24 wind turbines placed on the IJsselmeer between Lelystad and Urk, following the shoreline. Lifting the 116t weighing drive-train and hub together in one lift using 144 meter main boom with derrick to a height of around 120 meters, a spectacular operation! When finishing this lift, the blades can be attached and the crane can move to the next wind turbine to assemble.
