CSX/P&LE 1883,1963 Munhall (Pinkerton's Landing) Bridge over Monongahela River near Homestead, PA

P&LE = Pittsburgh & Lake Eire Railroad

This bridge goes between the USS Carrie Blast Furnaces on the north bank with the USS Homestead Works on the south bank, but the Rankin Hot Metal Bridge was a little further upstream.

The P&LE Bridge is in the foreground, Homestead Works are on the right and the Carrie Blast Furnaces are on the left.  The now abandoned RR bridge at the east end of Homestead Works was the Union RR Hot Metal Bridge.

The Pinkerton's Landing Bridge over the Monongahela in Homestead/Munhall, Pennsylvania sees a large amount of CSX rail traffic. This short train appeared to be a local.

American Bridge Company changing out bridge spans for the P&LE's Mon River bridge between Homestead and Swissvale. Carrie 6 and 7 in the background.
The current spans are the one on the left and the one in the process of being set on the right. The old ones are in the middle and were built for two tracks.

Daniel Keeney posted four photos with the comment: "Couple of photos I took 2 years ago on the Railroad bridge crossing over the Monongahela river by Homestead Labyrinth park, Homestead, PA. I even got to catch a CXS train coming over the bridge at the last minute."

A pair of CSX GE's lead empty coal train E700 as it crosses the Monongahela River in Rankin, Pennsylvania on the Pittsburgh Subdivision. The train is heading from Stilesboro, Georgia to Newell, where it will get recrewed by a mine run crew and taken for loading.
