Double Headed PRR Passenger Train over a now abandoned route

Some things never change. 159th and Vincennes. South Holland.
Larry Hegstad Looks like 2 Pennsy K-4's!

The comments quickly established that this was late 1920s or early 1930s based on the cars The comments also indicated that this was in Indiana rather than South Holland and that it was a black and white photo that has been colorized.

After some discussion, there was agreement that the following comment hit the nail on the head.

I think this is US12/20 in Gary. Looking East, before US12 becomes Dixie Highway. The roof on the building in the distance appears to be a good match and the separated trackage matches as well. (I think the Wabash 4th District paralleled the P Company here.) The road is only 2 lanes each way now, but the width of the ROW looks the same. This would explain the US12 to Indiana Dunes sign. i.e.: follow US12 not 20 when they split.
Bob Lalich I think you are narrowing in on it Eric Reinert. The road could be 4th Ave. The PRR Gary station was located between 4th and 5th Ave and a train stopped at the station would explain the auto traffic backup.

So that train was on the main Pennsy route between New York City and Chicago. Now 4th Ave is an overpass over a route that is no longer used.
