Tunnel on the Hi-DryEric Zerkle I heard the track was in bad shape by the time INRD got it.
In this pair of images, a southbound train, led by GP18 9414, has just emerged from the tunnel near New Unionville, Indiana. This Illinois Central branch to Indianapolis, nicknamed the Hi-Dry for its high bridges and fills, would become the heart of the Indiana Rail Road just nine years later.
Two images by Richard Koenig; taken December 9th 1977.
