John Schlegle: A historic Bureau Co. photo showing 3 modes of transportation crossing over East Bureau Creek. The Hennepin Canal (Lock #4, Aqueduct #1), Rock Island RR and C, O, & P Interurban ran parallel from Bureau Junction to this point (SW of Princeton) where the interurban (right) began heading towards Princeton. Present day Hornbecker's Garden sits on the bluff directly above Lock #4. The remains of the Aqueduct & Interurban Bridge can still be found today.

Looks like the heavy rains took their toll on the dam at lock 16.
[This is Sep 2026. A comment indicates that they just built the dam in Summer 2026. The bulldozer has been there since they built the dam, not because the state plans to repair the dam. I don't know why they built the dam in the first place.]

Devon Hall: At what point did they think a dirt berm and a few culvert was going to be enough to redirect the canal? They didn’t even put any back fill behind it they made a dirt berm across and said yeah that should hold

This is how I found the lock. It is further away from IL-82 than other maps implied.
