Wright's Covered Railroad Bridge over the Sugar River in Newport, NH
Double town- Pratt Lattice Truss
Built in 1906
About 124 feet long
New Hampshire Bridge # 56
There are only 7 covered railroad bridges still standing in the world, and New Hampshire is home to five with the Pier Bridge being the longest at 228 feet. The
Pier bridge is just a few miles down the road which follows the Sugar River, and these two bridges would be a awesome sight to see such rare railroad bridges in such good condition.

2 It "is the only surviving covered railroad bridge in the nation with laminated wood-plank arches placed between the double lattice trusses on each side of the bridge." The laminated arches are 5' (1.5m) high. |

This map labels the route as Claremont and Concord. According to Photo 2, that is wrong for two reasons. It was chartered as Concord & Claremont in 1848, and it was acquired by the Boston & Maine Railroad in 1887.
