Note that the chiller plant is about as big as the power plant. And the IC still has quite a few tracks in town.

An historic aerial confirms that IC used to have a spur next to the plant.

The structure that held the spur by the plant to allow dumping the coal out of a hopper is now gone. Has it been converted to gas, or been repurposed or does it just sets abandoned?

Memories of winters past. I was about as cold in the cab as it was outside.

  1. There was an article on the power plant in the alumni magazine a few years ago. I will attempt to find it and send you the link. I do not believe it is unused, however. Also, it has long occurred to me that it and the RR Donnelly Lakeside Press clearly have the same architect.
