ACL: (Bridge Hunter; no Historic Bridges; Satellite)
Lake Greenwood was created by the Buzzard Roost Dam. Both bridges are now owned by CSX.
Thomas Joey Milam posted two photos with the comment: "CSX over lake greenwood in South Carolina. The first pic is the new bridge in 1940 just before the lake was impounded. The second is current day with the lake at full pool."
[This was the Seaboard Air Line (SAL) Bridge.]

| Thomas Joey Milam commented on his post This is the bridge over the upper part of lake greenwood. The CSX Spartanburg subdivision. It’s somewhat of a hodgepodge! Part of the timber was replaced with concrete around 2002. I’m not sure why they didn’t replace the remaining timber. [This was the Atlantic Coast Line (ACL) Bridge.] |

The bridge support sank on one side. The out of level track caused a derailment. That repair is going to be an expensive pain in the butt. |

Waxhaw Railroading posted three photos with the comment:
The Lake Greenwood Bridge [north end]...There is a severely damaged bridge abutment.It is leaning significantly.Two girders have separated over 8 inches.The accident occurred north of this point, by a nb train immediately past it.No one was injured. The crew was safe in the engine at the other end of the train. Investigators will certainly ask if they saw or felt anything going over that abutment.
Justin Simpson: That would be a pier not abutment..
Waxhaw Railroading: Justin Simpson correct, but this particular pier was added after the 1940 bridge construction and was paired with the abutment. Thx Justin.

Greenwood County SC Government posted three photos with the comment:
CSX has reached another important milestone in repair efforts following Monday's train derailment in Laurens County.Yesterday, crews completed driving the new support pilings for the lower railroad trestle over Lake Greenwood, and the railroad trestle reopened to train traffic shortly after midnight.The turbidity curtain and containment boom remain in place as CSX completes final cleanup and repairs around the trestle.Boaters are reminded that only one of the elevated openings of the railroad trestle remains open for passage. Please use extreme caution and follow all directions if traveling through this area. Do not pass between the buoys marked "Boats Keep Out" and the trestle.We appreciate the continued patience and cooperation of our residents, visitors, and the boating community as this work is completed.We want to thank CSX for its rapid response and commitment to completing these critical repairs as quickly and safely as possible. We are also grateful to our partners in Laurens County for their continued coordination and communication throughout this response.
