1932-2013 Royal Gorge Incline Railway next to Royal Gorge Bridge

(Bridge Hunter; Satellite, it is lost in the shadows)

There was an incline railroad down to the Hanging Bridge in the Royal Gorge next to the suspension bridge. The railroad closed in 2013 because of a fire.

Megan Williams: This is a article from 2019. No longer in operation. The Royal Gorge Bridge was completed in 1929, followed by the construction of the Royal Gorge Incline Railway, designed to transport passengers from the rim to the Arkansas River below. This funicular featured a 1,550-foot track with a 45-degree incline, offering stunning views of the gorge’s granite cliffs and the bridge during a 5.5-minute ride at 3 miles per hour. Unfortunately, the Incline was damaged by fire in 2013, but the park still offers many exciting activities and attractions.
