1 of 5 photos posted by Bridges & Tunnels The Dunbar-South Charleston Bridge, commonly known as the Dunbar Toll Bridge, was initially constructed as a tolled crossing by the city of Dunbar, West Virginia. It was to connect the emerging suburban community of Dunbar with industrial centers across the river. A design has already been selected (steel girder) and while it will be built upon the existing piers, more engineering needs to be done. Then there is environmental reviews, permitting, coordination with the Army Corps of Engineers, and funding. |
