This 2,823' (860m) long bridge has a main span of 400' (122m). "The bridge and highway was built through land owned by former governor Jimmie H. Davis, accounting for the name." [Historic Bridges]
Before the construction work removed the trees, we could not see the trusses from this road.
A silver lining of replacing a truss bridge is that the construction photos give us more views of the truss bridge.

That is what is happening now for the Jimmie Davis Bridge over the Red River in Louisiana. ALL talks about providing two Link-Belt 248HSL cranes with 205' of boom. I wonder who provided the third crane and what model it was.

I spent some time looking for a rendering of the new bridge, but I could not find one! I saw diagrams about how the roads are being changed, but nothing about the new bridge itself. My guess is a steel girder, or perhaps concrete girder, bridge.

Well, someday has finally arrived — just not in purple.
The Jimmie Davis Bridge (LA 511) is getting a new blue look as we rehabilitate this historic structure into a pedestrian and bicycle crossing. 💙🚲🚶So, after all these years, we’re giving the community something to talk about again.
Purple bridge? No. Blue bridge? Absolutely. A whole new purpose? Now THAT’S something worth celebrating.
