The Great Lakes Storm of 1913, the "White Hurricane"

No one wrote a song about this 1913 storm. The Edmund Fitzgerald was sunk by a storm in 1975.

I've read that Lake Superior was dangerous because its big size allows big waves to be generated. But in this case, the most damage was done on Lake Huron. In general, the waves on the Great Lakes can bust ocean going ships in the middle because the waves are sharper than the waves generated on the open oceans. But 1913 was long before the Seaway was opened in 1959, so none of these boats would be ocean ships.
