New York Lower Manhattan $4b or more Flood Protection
I've seen information about storm protection being done further north on the east side of Manhattan, but now I can't find that info.

A century ago, they considered extending the Flushing river to the ocean for flood mitigation as well as navigation. Robert Moses widened the Flushing river to bring in the first world fair by boat but buried it to bring the second by truck. Developers renamed the Flushing river as a creek so they can build over it. Many streams were buried by developers, but they also shift over time, so we need ground penetrating radar to find them. Some idiot DEP blokes tried to feed streams into drains instead of reverse. Italian contractors dump concrete waste in storm drains, and Chinese slumlords eliminate lawns with water shedding concrete. And the we have the million trees which were the cheapest possible which shed leave the worst. But ultimately you need to remember most of Queens was always wetlands.
