This is another example of the right-of-way of an interban being bought by a power company for a power line. And the power company allowing the RoW to be used as a trail. In this case it is the Illinois Prairie Path - Elgin Branch.

Clintonville Substation in South Elgin.
Originally part of the
Chicago Aurora and Elgin Railroad. The Railroad construction started in 1900 and opened in August 1902. Passenger service came to a halt in 1957, freight operations continued until 1959.
This building is now home to the
Valley Model Railroad. The right of way is now operated as a multi-use trail called the Illinois Prairie Path
