Bridges Now and Then posted "Harvard Bridge, Spanning Charles River at Massachusetts Avenue, Boston, January, 1985. Note the construction barrels and the condition of the bridge. During the period when this picture was taken, the bridge was under a reduced load as a result of inspection after the 1983 failure of the I-95 bridge over the Mianus River in Connecticut. The bridge superstructure was replaced with a similar-looking construction shortly after this picture was created." Markers painted at 10-smoot intervals give the bridge's length 364.4 smoots long, "plus one ear". (Brien C. Neudorfer) |
