David Harris: Shouldn't both be down, or up?
Tom Stock: David Harris there is a protocol they use seasonally and under certain conditions as to how they stage all the control structures canal wide. Not exactly sure what that protocol is.
Gregory Brown: David Harris there is a hydropower generator between guard gate and lock 17 which is a lift gate.
Tom Stock: Gregory Brown that is true. With much of the flow diverted around Hansen Island and most of the water in the canal on the surface frozen, I imagine not a lot of flow through the turbine penstock but probably still some KWH being made.
