Replacing a 110-year-old bridge in 48 hours is an ambitious task no matter who you ask; accomplishing it in 30 hours deserves some major kudos. A cross-functional Union Pacific team recently did just that in Denison, Iowa!
[Since the article says they used a 650-ton crane, the crane would be a Manitowoc MLC 650.]

The two track truss was built in 1902. The third truss line and track were added in 1910. [BridgeHunter] I wonder if that 1910 truss was one of the last quadrangular (Whipple) trusses that C&NW built.

I am disappointed that UP's PR did not provide a time-lapse video or at least a photo gallery of the bridge replacement. This is the replacement bridge.
UP
They replaced a 170' through truss with a 203' pony girder bridge.

This is the only construction photo offered in the article.
UP
"As employees were hard at work, other UP teams strategized to keep freight moving and took the opportunity to continue strengthening the railroad’s infrastructure. Methodically rerouting trains to match train schedules and crew resources was the handiwork of the Harriman Dispatching Center, while Maintenance of Way employees used the empty tracks to perform necessary maintenance. Overall, the coordination effort lessened the replacement’s impact on UP’s network."

The height of this levee shows that the East Boyer River has been seriously channelized in this area.
