The historic need for a movable bridge is the reason for these notes, not yet another swing bridge. I wonder what towns the packet steamer ran between.

Rome GA- 10/07  Once the approach to the terminal in Rome, now a Rail Trail.
It is hard to believe but once upon a time that bridge would open (at least) twice a day for a scheduled packet steamer.
Don Traut: Not sure what's more impressive, that at one time commercial navigation was supported on these rivers, or that these structures still remain to tell that story.
