My original reason for noting this bridge was that it shows the Savanna River used to be navigable this far up the river. But after taking a closer look, it is notable because those steel girders not only have to hold up trains, they have to hold up the movable span, and its counterweight, when it rolls back to open.

It is no surprise that the previous bridge was a swing bridge.
