TVA posted three photos with the comment: "Unit 1 at the Melton Hill Hydro facility has received a complete overhaul as part of our commitment to providing clean and reliable energy. Skilled employees upgraded the turbine, generator, and other vital components! This unit has provided reliable power to the Valley for 50+ years and will serve for future generations following this project."

"Melton Hill Reservoir has a nationally recognized rowing course and is a spring training site for collegiate teams from throughout the eastern United States. The reservoir has hosted a number of national championships."
-- The dam is 103 feet high and stretches 1,020 feet across the Clinch River.
-- Melton Hill is the only dam in the tributary reservoir system with a navigation lock. The lock has a 75- by 400-foot chamber and a maximum lift of 60 feet.

Melton Hill Lock and Dam extends commercial navigation 40 miles up the Clinch River to Clinton, Tenn.  This provides development to the area between Knoxville and Oak Ridge.

-- Melton Hill Lock is located 23 river miles upstream of the mouth of the Clinch River entering the main stem of the Tennessee River at mile 568.
-- Melton Hill Dam is a concrete gravity and earthen fill structure measuring 1,020 ft. long, 103 ft. high, and contains 5,470 acres of water surface. The power plant section of the dam contains two generating units capable of producing 79 megawatts. The spillway section contains 3 spillway with an average maximum discharge of 118,000 CFS. Melton Hill Dam is equipped with a navigation lock measuring 400’ long x 75’ feet wide with a maximum lift of roughly 65’.

TVA posted four photos with the comment: "Melton Hill Dam located on the Clinch River in Lenoir City, TN is undergoing some major upgrades! The hardworking team is upgrading the rotor, turbine, wicket gates, and several other major components. These improvements will not only extend the life of the Unit 1 generator by 40 years but will make this renewable energy source more green by eliminating the use of oil in the Kaplan turbine!"
