When I saw this photo my thought was that you can't close the old bridge to build the new one.

It turns out this was part of a 72-hour closure to move the truss over to act as a temporary bridge while the new one was being built.
US-95 was reopened 36 hours ahead of schedule. This is a good thing because the detour is 500 miles. [

This photo shows the beams on which the 1.24 million-pound truss was moved 65' (20m) to the west.

I presume the blue towers were part of the falsework to build the arch.
