This bridge replaced an 1841 wooden bridge that burned Jul 22, 1923. The total length is 825' (251.5m).

The 1814 and 1830 bridges were covered wooden bridges. The wood bridge was replaced by the truss bridge in 1923 when a fire totally destroyed the old bridge.
Painted by Edward W. Redfield on Jul 24, 1923. Painting hangs in James A. Michener Museum via BridgeHunter_1830, more info about painting

drjtbc states that the load limit is 5 tons and the speed limit is 25mph. But the signage indicates the load limit is 15 tons and the speed limit is 15mph. That webpage says the sidewalk is on the downriver side. But it looks like it is on the upriver side to me.

The upper chords are lattice beams, but the side members are much simpler beams.
