USACE, Pittsburgh District posted Today’s highlights include Stonewall Jackson and Tygart lakes in northern West Virginia. Fun fact: Tygart Lake was the first of 16 flood-risk reservoirs built in the district’s footprint – its construction was authorized by the Rivers and Harbors Act of 1935. Today, Tygart Lake continues its mission to provide flood protection across more than 1,184 square-miles of watershed for communities within the lower Tygart River Valley – preventing almost $1.4 billion in flood damages since it went into operation in 1938. |
Note the outlet pipe operating on the left side of the spillway.
Evidently just an outlet pipe on the right side of the spillway is working in this view.
I wonder how many outlet pipes are open to create this flow.
