This bridge became abandoned when Milwaukee Road abandoned its westward extension. Washingthon State got ownership because of back taxes. Some of the Milwaukee right-of-way has been converted to the John Wayne Pioneer Trail, but the bridge is currently closed. How can a bridge be so bad that it can't even support people and horses? In 2018, the Washington Trust for Historic Preservation is working on getting an engineering study done to determine how to rehabilitate it for trail use. [Bridge Hunter 2]

You know you're from Eastern Washington when ... posted Beverly Bridge, south of Vantage, 1933. Moogeebur Hasapima Peffalon shared Asahel Curtis photo. Dave Rodewald Schneider: Short train for two locomotives. 🤔 Steve Hart: I'm a little surprised by the steam engines. Would this have been a Hanford train? [It sounds like this is part of the route that Milwaukee electrified.] David Sprau: Steve Hart date is not correct. I have had a copy of this image for several years and I believe it is about 1918. Can't enlarge much on my phone to see if trolley is up yet. It's a main line steam train -with a steam helper no doubt. |
