So why am I writing about yet another swing bridge? Because:
- it is not documented by Bridge Hunter
- it is well documented by Bob Kalal
- it goes over a currently closed navigation channel for the Fox River
- it serves just one industry, Expera Specialty Solutions
- CN, instead of UP, owns this former C&NW route
Bob Kalal posted eight photos with the comment: "Kaukauna Wisconsin, Wisconsin Central Railroad spur to Expera Specialty Solutions. Railroad bridge crossing the Fox River lock & canal."

Christopher J. Smith Bob Kalal I know that the DNR and the Army Corp of Engineers want to rewater the canal at some point, for pleasure cruising, From Wyalusing to Green Bay

Dennis DeBruler commented on Christopher's comment on Bob's post They are planning a canal all the way across the state??? https://www.google.com/.../data=!4m5!3m4... The two locks downstream from Croche Dam look operational. https://www.google.com/.../data=!3m1!1e3!4m5!3m4... I counted 14 locks between Croche Dam and Lake Winnebago that are dry or growing algae. The plans to restore this canal had some success: 21,692 people went through the locks in 2015. http://foxlocks.org/.../2016/03/FRNSA_fallwinter2015.pdf The Kaukauna Locks are currently closed because of bridge repairs. Some others were supposed to open May 30. http://foxlocks.org/schedule.../2019-lock-hours-procedures/ The Fox River Navigational System Authority seems to have a headquarters: https://www.google.com/.../data=!3m1!1e3!4m5!3m4... |
