(Bridge HunterSatellite, the name of the road changed from Grand Ave. to Wisconsin Ave.)

This bridge was replaced in 1975 by the Wisconsin Avenue Bridge.

This artistic hand-colored, divided back postcard arrived today. It shows a big excursion steamer being towed down the Milwaukee River past the Grand Avenue bascule bridge about 1910.
Many of Milwaukee's iconic buildings are shown and the period waterfront advertising reflects the importance of the riverfront at at that time.
The names of the vessels shown are just out of range to ID their names. Wondering if anyone has seen the photo from which this card was made or if you can ID the vessels from appearance.
Thanks to Bill Lafferty for identifying this as the maiden voyage of the big steamer United States. For more on this iconic Great Lakes passenger steamer see:

Even though there are bridges just a block away, I could not get a good street view from them because some pedestrian bridges blocked the view. This view is looking North and catches a glimpse of the Gimbel Building on the left. The blue circle on Google Maps is on the east side of the river, but this view shows that it should have been placed on the west side of the river.
