Trail/UP/C&NW 1880 Bridge over Chippewa River in Eau Claire, WI

(Bridge Hunter, 3D Satellite)

While looking for a junction tower in Eau Clare, I noticed alattice truss bridge on cut-stone piers. It was abandoned in 1992 by UP. Excel Energy purchases it in 2007 because of UP demolition plans and donates it to Eau Claire to save their gas line. In 2013 decking and handrails were added to make it part of a trail. Here's a real abandoned railroad right of way. Former CNW High Bridge in Eau Claire, WI. Once the CNW's original main line, the bridge was replaced by a new span to the north. The last train on the bridge was 1992 I think. If you visit Eau Claire, WI., it's worth a visit. These photos are from June of 2018.
