NS/CofG over Chattahoochee River at Columbus, GA

(no Bridge Hunter, 3D Satellite)

CofG is Central of Georgia

Norfolk Southern Corp posted
The Jersey Central heritage unit leads train 187 across the Chattahoochee River, as it departs Columbus, Georgia, heading into Phenix City, Alabama. This train moves mixed freight from Macon to Birmingham.
You can clearly see the cut-stone piers for a predecessor deck truss bridge. When they switched to steel girders, they increased the height of the old piers by adding a concrete extension and they added new concrete piers between each of the original piers. They also added concrete around the base of the old pier that is in the river to protect the stone's mortar from erosion.

Street View, the street-view car did not go on either of the roads that go under the bridge
